Welcome to our site: LS-Central.com

This site is dedicated to Washington State residents who are interested in learning about careers and education programs related to the life sciences.  The life sciences industry is about health and improving the lives of people locally and globally. Did you know that Washington State employs 21,500 people working in the agricultural, pharmaceutical, medical device, equipment, and laboratory segments of the life sciences industry? And for every scientist hired in Washington State, another 2.3 jobs are created.  Jobs in this industry pay very well and compared to similar jobs in other parts of the country, jobs in Washington State pay higher salaries.

Careers in life sciences go beyond lab coats and test tubes.  Clinical trials manager, quality control assistant, bioinformatics specialist, and technical writer are just a handful of careers you could pursue. On this site, you can view local life science employees working in a variety of settings. If you enjoy teamwork, analyzing data, or thinking of ways to grow a business, then this might be the industry for you. Among your colleagues will be world-renowned scientists and Nobel Prize winners who are currently developing vaccines and medical devices for people with diabetes, lung cancer, HIV, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, and malaria at one of Washington’s many research institutions, businesses, global health organizations, or universities.

Washington is poised to be a leader in health care and science innovation and we want you on board!  We hope this site will help you imagine the many diverse career possibilities available to you in the life sciences industry.
